Growing Together – The Next Steps for Rare & Chronic Voices

Rare & Chronic Voices logo with a purple camera, flowers, a mountain landscape and the words Real Stories. Stronger Together.

Today, we took another step forward at Rare & Chronic Voices. We set up the accounts for our first two volunteers. That might sound like a few email addresses and settings, but to me, it means that a personal project is gradually becoming a shared one.

Ina and Anja are joining us. And I’m so happy to have them on board.

Ina will focus mainly on writing blog posts and helping the experiences and concerns of people living with rare and chronic conditions reach a wider audience. Anja will help me look after the forum. Together, we want to welcome people and make room for conversations about questions, challenges and the good things in everyday life, too.

We’ll take our time getting started. Nobody needs to know everything on day one. We’ll learn together and work out how to fit these roles into our everyday lives. After all, volunteering should be enjoyable, too.

At the same time, we’re beginning the first preparations towards charitable status in Germany. We want to share responsibilities, organise how we work together and lay the foundations for a future charitable association.

Rare & Chronic Voices does not yet have recognised charitable status. Our aim is to continue building the team and the platform throughout 2027 and to begin pursuing charitable recognition in early 2028. There is plenty to learn and prepare along the way.

The reason we’re doing this remains simple: people living with rare and chronic conditions should have a place where their experiences matter. A place to share, ask questions and support one another. In the longer term, we also hope to offer practical help once the right foundations are in place.

Today, above all, I want to thank Ina and Anja. Thank you for offering your time and ideas, and for taking these next steps with me.

And to everyone reading along, sharing your stories or telling others about us: thank you, too. I look forward to keeping you involved and sharing what comes next.

Warm wishes,
Daniel
