Welcome to Rare Voices

Hello and welcome.

My name is Daniel, and I am the person behind RareDiseasesLensMagic1974 and this community.

I want to begin with something simple:

I am truly glad you are here.

Rare Voices was not created because I have all the answers. Quite the opposite.

I created this community because I know what it feels like to live with questions.

I live with a rare disease myself, and I know that life with a rare condition can sometimes be difficult to explain. There are symptoms others may not see. There are days when plans change. There are moments of uncertainty, frustration, exhaustion and loneliness.

And sometimes, even surrounded by people, you can still feel strangely alone with what is happening inside your own life.

That is one of the reasons this community exists.

Rare Voices should become a place for honest conversations, shared experiences and human connection.

A place where you do not have to know the perfect words.

A place where you do not have to tell your entire story.

A place where you can ask questions, share experiences, talk about difficult days — and celebrate good ones too.

Because life with a rare disease is not only about diagnoses, symptoms and medical appointments.

We are still people.

We laugh.

We love.

We have families, hobbies, dreams, fears, bad days, ridiculous moments and small victories that sometimes mean far more than anyone else realizes.

This community is for people living with rare diseases.

It is also for families, partners, parents, caregivers and those who are still searching for answers.

You are welcome whether you want to write a lot or only read quietly for a while.

There is no pressure to share more than you want.

My hope is that, over time, Rare Voices becomes more than just a forum.

I hope it becomes a place where someone can arrive on a difficult day and realize:

“Maybe I am not as alone as I thought.”

Thank you for being here at the beginning of this journey.

This community will grow through people, stories, conversations and kindness.

And perhaps, one day, someone will find exactly the words they needed because another person here had the courage to share them.
