๐ My Story โ Why I Created RareDiseasesLensMagic1974
Hello, my name is Daniel, and I live in Germany.
I am not a doctor, researcher or scientist.
I am a patient.
I live with Fabry disease, a rare genetic disease that has become part of my life and my story.
Living with a rare disease is about much more than a diagnosis written on a piece of paper. It can mean living with symptoms that other people cannot see. It can mean uncertainty, difficult days, unanswered questions and the feeling that very few people truly understand what everyday life with a rare disease can be like.
But my story is not only about illness.
It is also about hope.
Over time, I realized how important it is for people affected by rare diseases to find each other. Somewhere in Germany, Europe, Asia, Africa or anywhere else in the world, there may be someone asking exactly the same questions as you.
Someone may be afraid.
Someone may feel alone.
Someone may simply need to hear:
โI understand you. I have experienced something similar.โ
That is one of the reasons why I created RareDiseasesLensMagic1974.
My goal is to build an international community where people living with rare diseases, their families and supporters can meet, exchange experiences and learn from one another.
I want borders and languages to become less important.
Because rare diseases do not stop at national borders โ and neither should our support for each other.
My other great passion is photography. Photography has taught me to look more closely at the world and to notice moments that might otherwise remain unseen.
In some ways, this is also what I want to do with RareDiseasesLensMagic1974:
Make the unseen visible.
Behind every diagnosis is a human being.
Behind every rare disease is a family, a story, a struggle, a dream and a life.
This forum is still growing, and our community is only at the beginning of its journey. But every international connection, every conversation and every person who shares their experience makes it a little stronger.
My hope is that one day someone newly diagnosed with a rare disease will find this community and immediately realize:
I am not alone.
This is my story.
Now I would love to hear yours. ๐
Wherever you come from and whatever rare disease has become part of your life:
Your story matters. Your voice matters.
Welcome to RareDiseasesLensMagic1974.
