Today is a special day for me, because my Fabry disease is taking centre stage.
A few months ago, I switched to oral treatment, hoping it would improve my quality of life. Today, I’m returning to enzyme replacement therapy.
Unfortunately, I found it difficult to fit the oral treatment into my daily routine. With that treatment, I had to fast for two hours before and two hours after taking each dose. I also had to take it every other day at the same time. I couldn’t consistently make that schedule work in my everyday life.
So today, I’m going back to infusions—but with a different medication.
Right now, I feel a little uncertain and nervous because I don’t yet know how I’ll react to the new medication. But I’m a positive person, and I’m hopeful that everything will go well.
Have you ever started a new treatment? How did you feel that day?
