Wie erkundest du am liebsten eine neue Stadt?
🧭📷 How do I like to explore a new city?
When I visit a place for the first time, I could of course grab a guidebook and tick off one famous sight after another.
But somehow, that’s just not me. 😊
I’d much rather pack my camera, open my geocaching app and ask myself: What is there to discover here?
For me, geocaching is one of the best ways to get to know an unfamiliar city. A cache doesn’t just take me to the famous places. Quite often, I suddenly find myself in a little side street, next to an old building, in a quiet park or at a viewpoint I probably would never have discovered otherwise.
And those are exactly the places I love. ❤️
Of course, I usually have a rough route in mind. But the moment I spot an interesting photo opportunity along the way, the plan is quickly forgotten. 😄
Then I simply take a different turn.
Maybe I discover a beautiful courtyard. An unusual building facade. Some street art. A reflection in a puddle. Or simply one of those little moments that makes me think:
Stop. Camera out. I have to photograph this. 📷
And at some point, of course, I need a coffee. ☕😄
Time for a break. Sit down for a while, watch the people passing by, look through the photos I’ve already taken and decide which cache I want to search for next.
I especially love it when I can stay until the evening. When the light becomes softer, the streetlights come on and the whole city suddenly takes on a completely different atmosphere.
Maybe I’ll search for one last cache… and then slowly make my way back.
At the end of the day, I probably haven’t seen every famous sight.
But I don’t need to.
Because I’ve found something much better:
My very own story of that city. ❤️
🧭 Geocaching shows me the way.
📷 My camera makes me look more closely.
🚶 And my curiosity decides where I eventually end up.
That’s exactly how I love to explore a new city.
